Volunteers needed: CU Denver FIRST Lego League tournament

Faculty, staff and students are invited to volunteer for the CU Denver First Lego League tournament on Saturday, November 9, 2019. The tournament will host more than 30 teams from almost as many schools in the central Colorado region. Teams average seven participants per team, ages 9-14.  (more info on FLL)

This is a wonderful outreach opportunity for CU Denver that services more than 200 students and their families. The success of the tournament relies on volunteers, and those who volunteer find it to be a very rewarding experience. Volunteering opportunities include:

  • judging (robot design, research project, team work)
  • registration
  • photography
  • score keeping
  • refereeing
  • various event assistance 

The primary tournament location is in Student Commons, with judging rooms in North Classroom. Timing for volunteers: Saturday, 11/9 from 7:30 a.m. through 4 p.m. We also need help setting up Friday evening from 5 – 8 p.m., or cleanup 4 – 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. 

A complimentary lunch and snacks are provided for volunteers throughout the event on Saturday.   

Volunteers must sign up first through the FIRST-Inspires website: www.firstinspires.org/

Once logged in, go to your “Dashboard.”  Select “Volunteer Registration,” then select “Event Volunteering.” Under Programs, click on “FLL” and in the boxes below select “Colorado” for the state and “Central Denver” under “Name, Event, City or Venue.” Click on Apply Filters, and then click on the “Volunteer” button for the Central Denver Regional Tournament.  Select the role(s) that you would like to serve for this year’s tournament.
