On Feb. 18, the Denver Education Attainment Network (DEAN) convened and supported Community College of Denver (CCD), Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) and University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) in developing the “Auraria Engineering Pathways” starting Summer 2020. Six engineering transfer agreements were penned at a signing ceremony to honor this new and innovative collaboration. These transfer plans start with college algebra, helping students get on their engineering path early.
Auraria Engineering Pathways achieves the following:
- Students start with college algebra
- Includes first-semester robotics course and freshman design course
- Three engineering options with near-identical coursework: civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering
- Coursework at CCD transfers to either MSU Denver or CU Denver, with guaranteed admission upon completion of the associate of science at CCD
- Coursework in all three options is nearly identical, so students can take time learning more about the specific type of engineering they are interested in before making a final decision on which degree and career they want to pursue
This type of collaboration creates real results for students, producing clear, articulated pathways leading to a successful careers.
