While the word “quantum” may bring to mind TV shows with time-traveling actors, in Colorado this buzzword has become synonymous with innovation, investment in jobs, and solving society’s biggest problems. In July, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced a grant for tech-hub Elevate Quantum that, with matching funds from Colorado and New Mexico, will amount to an investment of $127 million in the region.   

CU Denver is part of the Elevate Quantum consortium, and we are uniquely poised to help support the quantum field by educating and training the workforce of tomorrow thanks to our Quantum Information Technology Certificate, a multidisciplinary program that combines physics and electrical engineering.   

In the spring, two students—including Audrey Whitesell—became the first CU Denver students to earn this certificate. And that’s just the start.
