Hayes, left, receives her CO-NSPE award

Roxann Hayes, senior instructor of civil engineering, received the 2019 Colorado Chapter of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) University Educator of the Year. This award was presented at the NSPE October meeting in Golden, Colorado.

Hayes received the award for her integration of real-world design applications and experiences into her undergraduate and graduate courses. This includes inviting industry experts into her classroom and creating valuable field trips to experience transportation problems and solutions firsthand. Hayes continues to serve on the Fundamentals of Engineers (FE) Civil Committee for the National Council of  Examiners for Engineering and Surveying, visiting Clemson, South Carolina four times a year to shape and create questions for the FE exam.

Hayes is a licensed professional engineer in the State of Colorado. In addition to her teaching and advising responsibilities, she owns a small traffic engineering consulting firm (Roxann Hayes Consulting, LLC).

Congratulations!
